Purpose of the Trip:

FBC has been going to the country of Moldova for many years. In 2024, FBC will expand its international mission fields to Istanbul, Turkey. Our purpose will be to learn how God is moving in these two countries and imagine what we can do to partner with God in these amazing places.

Istanbul, Turkey:

2024 will be the first time FBC will take a team to Istanbul. We will partner with CRU missionary and FBC partners Andy and Natalie. This family will host us and help us understand this global city’s diverse needs. We will spend five (5) nights in Turkey. While there, we will visit several mosques for prayer walks. We will have opportunities to share the hope of the gospel with people who are Muslim and several other faith backgrounds. During the Turkey part of the trip, we will explore all God did through Paul in Asia, including a day trip to the ancient city of Ephesus.

Chisinau, Moldova:

Moldova is the poorest country in Europe and, like many former Soviet Republics, has only begun to open to Christianity since 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed. Our partners in Chisinau were among the first Evangelical Christians in Moldova. Kishnev Bible Church and its Bible Seminary have been a gospel light for almost 30 years. We will partner with KBC and the seminary students to do outreach in the city and rural outskirts.

Sample Itinerary:

• June 3 – Day 1: Depart for Istanbul from San Antonio
• June 4 – Day 2: Arrive in Istanbul to hotel and dinner
• June 5-9 – Days 3-7: Cultural immersion & ministry
• June 10 – Day 8: Fly to Chisinau, Moldova – settle in and dinner with Moldovan partners
• June 11-15 – Days 9-13: Ministry days
• June 16 – Day 14: Church with friends
• June 17 – Day 15: Fly to San Antonio

Challenge:

This trip is designed to balance cultural immersion and ministry opportunities. Participants will be exposed to the Muslim world. You will get to meet Muslims and Christians who were formerly Muslim. We will visit two world-famous mosques. You will also experience a deep reverence for the gospel throughout history and in action today. Finally, you will get to be the hands and feet of Jesus in two different regions, and in both, see that God is indeed at work! This team will walk through Acts 19-20, the book of Ephesians, and John’s 7 Letters in Revelation.
