So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17
In November 2024, three travelers from FBC found themselves in a nondescript, unmarked, and unremarkable warehouse on the other side of the world. There was nothing about the small warehouse that would impress you, nothing to draw attention. But tucked In the very back corner, in unmarked boxes, we found the very remarkable reason for our visit…boxes and boxes of New Testaments written in Farsi, awaiting their perilous journey to new believers in Persia. We were awestruck as we listened to how these books are printed and transported to this warehouse and how they will make their way into the hands of people who have never seen a Bible before. In a country where owning a Bible is illegal, where sharing the Gospel can lead to imprisonment, expulsion, or even death, the demand for Bibles is growing exponentially. New believers, in secret house churches and even in cars, are willing to risk their lives to spread the good news of Jesus. And many people, at great peril to their own lives, have been involved in getting those Bibles to those waiting hands. Indeed, four members of our mission team have supported this effort for the glory of God since 2002. We listened intently as Allen (not his real name) told us about the networks that he uses to transport about 75,000 New Testaments across the border and into the hands of pastors and brand new believers, at great risk to himself and greater risk to those who do the transporting and delivering. Despite the risks, God’s precious Word is worth every sacrifice!
We are praising the Lord for allowing FBC to support this effort and providing Bibles to the unreached locally and internationally. The Mission and Evangelism Committee recently approved a $5000 donation to this Persian Bible Project. In addition, $3000 was approved to purchase Bibles for Jose Luis Jimenez, our E3 missionary partner in Mexico, to be distributed to three different indigenous, unreached people groups in Chiapas, Mexico. FBC also contributed $ 4,000 to a North Korean Bible Project and recently donated $ 6,500 for Gideon Bibles to be distributed during Boerne Bright. We are so thankful that $18,500 has been dedicated this year for His glory in providing Bibles to those who need to hear the good news! “As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:15b
