India’s Unreached and Why FBC Boerne Sent Its Lead Pastor (Part 3)
India’s unreached remain one of the most significant mission opportunities in the world today. In this episode of the SO THAT Missions Podcast, Missions Pastor Chad Mason and Senior Pastor Jason Smith continue sharing stories from their recent trip to India and what they witnessed as the Gospel spreads among communities who have never heard the message of Jesus.
During their visit, they met believers gathering in homes, sharing meals, opening Scripture together, and welcoming neighbors to hear about Christ. These simple gatherings are part of a growing movement as the Gospel spreads through families, friendships, and local communities.
Why India’s Unreached Matter
One story from their trip highlights how the Gospel often spreads through relationships and families.
The pastors visited a small rural village where a family welcomed them into their home. What they learned was that the entire family had come to faith because of one extraordinary event.
The family’s son had been severely injured when he was run over by a truck. His injuries were so serious that the family believed he would not survive. After exhausting every option for help, a Christian came into the hospital and asked if he could pray for him in the name of Jesus.
Against all expectations, the young man recovered.
When the pastors met the family later, they saw firsthand how that moment had changed everything. The young man, his parents, siblings, and extended family had all come to faith after witnessing what God had done in his life.
Today, their home has become a gathering place where others come to hear about Christ and where the Gospel continues to spread through their community.
What We Witnessed in India
Throughout their trip, the pastors encountered many examples of how the Gospel is spreading in northern India. Instead of large events or formal programs, new believers often begin sharing their faith with the people they already know—family members, neighbors, coworkers, and friends.
As those relationships grow, small gatherings form where people worship together, read Scripture, and encourage one another in their faith.
These house churches are simple but powerful expressions of the church. They remind us that the church is not defined by buildings but by people who gather together in the name of Jesus.
