India’s Unreached People Groups: Why FBC Boerne Sent Its Senior Pastor (Part 2)

India’s unreached people groups represent one of the greatest mission opportunities in the world today. In this episode of the SO THAT Missions Podcast, Missions Pastor Chad Mason and Senior Pastor Jason Smith share what they witnessed during their recent trip to India and why the Gospel is urgently needed in places where many have never heard the name of Jesus.

While traveling through northern India, they encountered believers gathering in simple homes, worshiping together, sharing Scripture, and inviting neighbors to hear about Christ. These small gatherings are part of a growing movement as the Gospel spreads among communities with little access to the good news.

Why India’s Unreached People Groups Matter

India is home to thousands of distinct communities, many of which have limited access to the Gospel. Yet even in challenging environments, God is raising ordinary believers who are faithfully sharing their faith with family members, neighbors, and entire villages.

During their visit, the team traveled to rural communities where house churches meet regularly in family homes. These gatherings are often led by new believers who simply begin sharing what Jesus has done.

One story that stood out involved a farmer whose home had become the meeting place for a local church. As the Gospel took root, more families came to believe, and the group began gathering regularly at his home for worship, prayer, and discipleship.

Stories like these remind us that the church isn’t a building—it’s people transformed by Christ.

What We Learned From House Churches in India

House churches are one way the Gospel is spreading among India’s unreached people groups. Instead of relying on large buildings or formal structures, believers gather where they live, invite others into community, and grow through Scripture, prayer, and shared discipleship.

This model is simple, reproducible, and deeply relational—making it especially effective in areas where access to traditional church structures may be limited.
