iving near the border of Texas and Mexico, we hear a lot about migrants coming from all over and waiting to get into our country. Knowing what to do or where to help in this overwhelming situation is challenging. Did you know we have a new missions partner that fights that question every day but has taken it head on? They’re called the 13:2 initiative, and they are a charitable organization driven by the mission to respond to urgent humanitarian needs at the US/Mexico border. They do this by receiving and purchasing humanitarian supplies and distributing them to direct-care partners on both sides of the border.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing, some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. -Hebrews 13:2

God’s voice is not silent when it comes to the cause of the refugee, the immigrant, the outsider. He identifies with them and enters into their distress. Migration, often used and directed by God for His own purposes, is a significant part of His command to reach all peoples. This is the heart of the 13:2 Initiative’s mission, a mission that resonates with our shared values and calls us to action.

This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’ Zechariah 7:9-10.
